Mini Case Study: Pythia Candles

Not every candle brand is meant to feel clean, minimal and predictable.

For Pythia, the intention was different from the beginning. Inspired by mysticism, sensory rituals and elevated everyday moments, the brand needed to feel atmospheric, symbolic and quietly luxurious: something that felt less like a product and more like an experience.

The challenge was to create a visual identity and packaging system that balanced refinement with mystery, while still feeling premium and design-conscious.

Rather than relying on conventional luxury cues, we explored something more tactile and emotional.

A key part of the brand universe became the use of handmade collage elements throughout the packaging system.

Why collage?

Because perfection felt too obvious.

The brand was searching for something more layered, symbolic and slightly enigmatic, visual elements that could evoke discovery, ritual and a sense of something collected over time.

By incorporating handmade collages, we introduced a feeling of uniqueness and quiet unpredictability into the experience. The imperfect compositions brought warmth and soul, helping the packaging feel less manufactured and more intentional — almost like found fragments from another world.

This handcrafted approach became one of the defining elements of the brand, reinforcing the emotional atmosphere Pythia wanted to create.

From brand identity and packaging design to art direction and visual storytelling, every decision was made to support a brand experience that feels immersive, sensory and deeply considered.

The result is a candle brand that transforms everyday rituals into something more meaningful designed for an audience that values aesthetics, craftsmanship and atmosphere in equal measure.
